2nd Borne Records is an independent record shop located in historic downtown Kinston, NC, the Birthplace of Funk.

In 2023 after finding the perfect brick-and-mortar location, a long simmering vision materialized. The building was vacant for 20 plus years. A lot of TLC has gone into the location. The building has been restored and improved upon.

We sell new records as well as pre-owned records. We continually purchase new inventory from wholesalers and acquire collections from an eclectic group of people. Our goal is to get as many records, new and pre-owned into the hands of those who need them. We strive to provide the local community of creatives with inspiring music and a place to call home.
